Re: Huddersfield v West Ham - Official Match Thread FT 1-1
Contribution Implies doing something deliberate or conscious of the eventual outcome. Antonio took a selfish shot which could have ballooned literally anywhere when poorly placed on his weak foot with better options available. The fact it came back to Anderson to finish was pure luck. Otherwise you might as well be thanking Snodgrass's mum for her contribution to yesterday's goal.

And nobody is blaming or making him responsible for the entire performance, so that's a made up acusation and strawman.

I agree totally, Darby. To suggest that any team in the Prem is 'shit' is preposterous. On their day any team can beat another, with the possible exception of Man City. West Brom beating Man Utd (I think) last season when they were all ready down is a fine example.

All you have to answer a discussion point is a playground insult. Pathetic.

Having a shot on target that is blocked for the rebound to be scored is 100% contributing to a goal.

Contributed to the equaliser

Hahaha

Re: Huddersfield v West Ham - Official Match Thread FT 1-1
Not at all. It just seems daft to focus on him for the team's shortcomings when he played less minutes than almost any other player and contributed to the equaliser!

Let me guess, you still think that Antonio's in great form, Contrary V son?

The obsession with Antonio continues. The 64 minutes where he wasn't on the field we were mostly rubbish.

Re: Huddersfield v West Ham - Official Match Thread FT 1-1
Stop defending the moron.
He's just a selfish player, full stop. Not under confident. In fact, over confident to the point of arrogance.
You can see his selfishness when we lump long balls or goal kicks to him. Rather than looking to head on or find a team mate, he decides it's more sensible and advantageous to try and chest or control the ball dropping from 40 foot in the air, inevitably losing possession as it bounces 15 yards away from him every fucking time. And to make matters worse, he doesn't even bother chasing after wherever the fuck it's ended up other than the lightest of jogs to feign effort.
Man needs a smack and selling.

There is no doubt that Antonio can get his head over the ball and drop his shoulder when shooting. It's just that, in the heat of the moment, he tends to do any old thing to get power on the ball to score.

This indicates an anxiety about his own ability to achieve his desired effect that is blocking him from just playing the game and doing what is natural. I'm curious whether he's getting the support he needs to work on this.

Re: Huddersfield v West Ham - Official Match Thread FT 1-1
I always encourage our players to shoot, however it must've been a first yesterday when Antonio ran along the front of the box and took it onto his left foot...16 yards out and I shout noooo. Basically, as I said from day 1 - he isn't a footballer.

Re: Huddersfield v West Ham - Official Match Thread FT 1-1
Antonio 4: Worst player on the pitch, unfit, greedy, selfish and looks completely done as a top level player. Will move on to a bottom 6 team and do ok but looks finished as a West Ham player.

____

everyone at WH loves to have a moan, however his three chances yesterday ...simply unforgiveable to be so wasteful/high&wide with the first two- then the "turn-and-shoot" when ANderson was in a much better position to shoot, which luckily deflected back to anderson for the goal.

waste of a shirt and about 50 bags a week

Re: Huddersfield v West Ham - Official Match Thread FT 1-1
Agree with a lot of Deano. But...

We did play okay in patches, but just okay against Huddersfield is not good enough. Forget all their passion and plucky courage, their players - with respect - are a step below ours. In theory.

Apart from Prichard (£110k) and Mooy (£50k) most of their squad is on £20-30k pw. Games like yesterday, we / the club is simply getting BAD value. We are STILL underachieving far too often. We aren't alone in this but, fuck me, it's tedious. Chicarito, Arnie and Anderson would pay for most of their team.

I think we missed Noble. And, yes, I will say that word. Passion. Well done to the travelling fans. A credit, as always.

Bottom line is it wasn't good enough. Again. So that's one so called winnable game chalked off.

An enjoyable day none the less, with our support a credit once again.

Re: Huddersfield v West Ham - Official Match Thread FT 1-1
A lot of posters on this thread had an arrogant attitude before the game. We were going to beat them 3-0 and they were only little Huddersfield. They can’t then turn around and call the players arrogant and complacent.

Huddersfield got in our face and threw us off our game. It was really only the quality of Felipe that got us a lucky point.

We’re lucky to have players like Anderson and Arnie who can save a game when we aren’t playing well.

I think we’re slowly getting better, but it’ll be up and down for a few more months.

Re: Huddersfield v West Ham - Official Match Thread FT 1-1
In the first half Fab tipped one onto the bar, then another one beat him hit the inside of the post bounced back across the line and clipped the outside of the other post. Fab also saved a one on one. They could have gone in at half time 4-1 if we're honest.

Second half we were better and we should have scored a couple, but the game is for 90 minutes. We have form for this, Brighton for a start....
